At its monthly Committee
Meeting on 4th September 2003, your committee voted to adopt the following
policy regarding PIT BIKES.
Your compliance with the
policy will be appreciated
Policy Background
The
use of Pit Bikes at motocross events is becoming more widespread. Concern has been expressed in wider
motocross circles about the potential risk the operation of these bikes could
expose organisers to, especially if operators of the bikes are not actually
part of an event or supporting it. In
addition, the potential for liability if a pit bike collides with or damages
any party’s property cannot be ignored.
Policy Purpose
The
purpose of KMMC’s PIT BIKE Policy is to exert control
over where, when and for what purpose pit bikes can be used in order to
mitigate risk to the KMMS, its facilities and officers.
Policy
The
use of Pit Bikes is prohibited at Kapi-Mana Motorcycle Club’s Moonshine Track
due to space constraints.
For
each event organised off site by KMMC, a policy will be formulated as to the
use of pit bikes which will conform to the following general policy.
1.1. Pit Bikes should be used for official
duties only. An official duty is
described as:
“A
task or activity that is directly related to the safe, fun and fair running of
an event or related activity such as track reconnaissance, track maintenance, steward
mobility, sponsorship or host responsibilities or communications”.
1.2. Pit Bikes are not to be used where their
use would cause a noise nuisance or any other hazard during the set up of an
event, the running of the event or the pack up of the event.
